Regency Straw Country Bonnet

Regency bonnets and hats are so elegant! Not to mention they are so fun to make! I just recently finished making this Regency bonnet. I inspired mine from The Merry Dressmaker  's tutorial.

This is what I started out with. My mom had picked this up for me awhile back, but I never actually wore it. Who know I would end up making a lovely bonnet out of it!

I removed the brown crown and used the straw brim.

The crown is made from a matte satin/crepe and lined with a cotton. The rosette is handmade from the same crown fabric and the darker green ribbon that was used for the ties.

I love how the rosette turned out!

Pleated crown

I am really happy with how it turned out! I am planning on attending a Jane Austen event in a couple of weeks and look forward to wearing it than!

Happy Sewing!
Samantha

  1. I've loved Anne's bonnet in the '07 Persuasion for quite some time (which is very similar), so your lovely creation here is like my Regency bonnet dream! :) WOW.

And (I don't know if you like doing tags), but I've tagged you over on my blog with the Random Questions tag. Here's the link: http://ladyofanorien.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-random-questions-tag-x-2.html.
